October 01 学习学习妈妈呀,写死姊姊我了!
Summer Vacation This summer vacation I got a chance to Britain for English studying and place visiting. I don't like to study
English but I do have a keen interest in travelling. The
journey took about 19 days including the flying times. I
went with my schoolmatesand finally I found it super fun
to study and go sightseeing there!
Our airplane took off at exactly 10:30am on 23th of July. As the plane flew higher and hirher, I started my
journey. The further I went, the more excited I was.
After we safely landed at the British airport we went
to Canterbury where we were going to stay for two
weeks. On the first day of our arrival, the staff showed
us around Canterbury. Canterbury is a city to the south
of London in Britain that has been built on the solid
foundation of history. I chose there because in recent
years a large area of the city had been redeveloped
and it had become widely known as an excellent
shopping certre with everything from antique shops
to modern departmental stores catering for all needs.
As well as many excellent hotels, there were also a
host of restaurants, both English and foreign, cafes
and cafeterias ready to meet the demand of individuals,
groups, or large parties. I just couldn't help loving there.
The place we lived was called Horne Bay and we were
arranged to stay with troditional English families so that
we could practice our spoken English everyday we came
back from school. School, oh my gosh, I almost forgot
to talk about the school. Before I went there I received
a paper to certify that I was enrolled for a course of
English at Stafford House School hold by Cambridge.
It was a fine long history school, and had a full
and busy schedule for us.
Every week we will go on one half-day excursion and one local visit and they would recommend
us to bring our camera on these days. We had sports
on Tuesday and Friday. You could swim, play basketball,
tennis, badminton and football. There were also evening
activities at The Bizz Disco on Tuesdays and Thursdays,
but if we wanted to do something else instead that was
Ok! We had a excursion on Saturday too which would take
longer.
The disco was pretty fun. There were not only Chinese students, but many European students as well. They
danced creazy and fairly well. We really had a good time
there. When we went back home, it was often 9pm.
I discoverd that people scrcely went out after 9 o' clock
in the evening. People lived an easy and comfortable life!
The lessons there were very fun and useful. In the beginning of the class, the teacher would give us a topic
paper that had some inportant information on. Then
they'd like us to have a short discussion and speak it out
freely. We studied how to make an alibi, how to write a
recipe, how to discribe danger and risk, how to respect
animal rights, how to make a fortune teller, how to telling
lies, and we had learned many kinds of games which in
significant measures stimulated our interest.
Leeds Castle is one of the oldest castles in the U.K. It is called Leeds Castle because a Saxon chief called
Leed decided to build a wooden castle there. Many
famous Kings and Queen have lived there, including
Henry VIII (and his six wives!). You can see many
beautiful places there, such as aviary, duckery and
a maze.
We also went to the Canterbury Tales. They used many kinds of ingredients to make the tales
back to live. It was in the heart of the city. When
I walked in, I just could believe that these people
were made of wax and some of the settings were
really attractive. It is said that every visitor that
goes to Canterbury must visit here
because of it "Great Fun And Very Well Done".
The Canterbury Cathedral is usually the first place most people wish to visit. It is famous for
its beautiful window painting and worship rooms.
We are left with one of the most fascinating and
graceful medieval structures in Europe.
Oxford and Cambridge were both in the schedule. We went shopping and town walking there, then we
took pictures of some famous colleges. Then we
went to London and stayed there for four days.
During the staying, we went to Windsor Castle which
was the imperial palace for short stays away from
the capital especially for the Queen and Eton College.
Still we had some local visit in London, such as the
Tower of London, the Big Ben, the Dawning Street,
ect.
In any case, I had a wonderful time in Britain and had learned a lot of things, not only English but
also another culture. Now I had known something
about Britain, and this will be ong of the most
weathy experience I have ever experienced. TrackbacksThe trackback URL for this entry is: http://sandrajjvip.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!8DE773698DC82C02!207.trak Weblogs that reference this entry
